The Human Dignity Charter

Our Purpose

We believe government exists to serve the people — not control them, profit from them, or divide them. We commit to building communities and institutions rooted in human dignity, truth, justice, and shared responsibility.

Human Dignity and Equality

All humans are to be treated humanely, equally, fairly, and with respect.
No person shall be discriminated against for any reason.
The freedoms of others are not limited by one’s own will or opinion.
We stand loudly against injustice and bullying.
We believe the collective power of humanity is stronger than fear or division.

Truth and Accountability

We believe truthfulness is essential in public service.
Knowingly lying in public office is unacceptable.
When mistakes occur, accountability and repair are required.
Those who hold power — politicians, police, and institutions — must be held to higher standards, not lower ones.

Rights and Liberties

Every person has the right to bodily autonomy and personal security.
People have the right to privacy in their communications and personal data.
Humans have the right to safety and to defend themselves and their families.
We uphold non-aggression whenever possible and recognize self-defense as a basic right.

Justice and Due Process

All people are held to the same legal standards.
Cruel and unusual punishment is immoral.
Every person is entitled to fair legal representation and impartial justice.
No one shall be punished or detained without transparent legal process.
Unlawful search, seizure, or confiscation of property is prohibited.
Families have the right to know the location of detained loved ones.

Democracy and Ethical Governance

Governments must be elected freely, fairly, and transparently.
Political power must rotate through term limits to prevent corruption.
Money and corporations shall not overpower human voices in politics.
Emergency powers must be limited and overseen.
Freedom of speech, protest, and questioning authority belong to all people.
Where the Constitution fails to protect human rights, it must be amended democratically.

Basic Human Needs

All humans deserve food, clean water, shelter, sanitation, healthcare, and safety.
Healthcare must serve people, not profit.
Science guides healthcare policy.
Meeting basic needs is a shared responsibility of individuals, society, and government.

Education and Knowledge

All people have the right to high-quality education.
Education must foster critical thinking, not obedience.
Censorship is unacceptable.
People deserve access to truth, knowledge, and open information.

Economic and Collective Responsibility

Economic systems should benefit the many, not the few.
Extreme wealth concentration and resource hoarding harm society.
Fair wages and broad prosperity strengthen communities.
Peaceful protest, strikes, and boycotts are legitimate tools of public change.

Environmental Stewardship

All people have the right to a clean and sustainable environment.
Air, water, land, and ecosystems must be protected.
Short-term profit must never override long-term planetary health.
